Just found out Tamiya made several kits of the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 DTM racecar. But, OMG, so many gorgeous liveries! It is impossible to choose just one favorite!

The first kit I built was a Volvo 850 Estate BTCC. I should had built other kits before attempting the Volvo, because it didn't end as I wished. Some glue fogged the windows, and the roof painting wasn't good either. However, it wasn't that bad. The kit was also quite old when I bought, so some decals were stained or cracked too. But I had a good time building it. Now I have better tools and more experience, so the next kit will be built much better.

Is that a bottle of Contacta Professional in the background? What do you do to keep the glue from hardening inside the needle? I'd use mine more often during modelling if it wasn't for that...

Well I have literally had this same bottle for YEARS, and the needle is no longer there, but I used to just remove the needle, hold it with some pliers, and take a lighter to one end. It would burn all the glue out in a second. Then just let it cool and you are good to go.

Looks pretty awesome still, though, plus, it's a friggin Volvo wagon. Did you paint it?

I have been collecting Tamiya's DTM body shells. '93-'94 season Dekra sponsored 155 body was recently in reproduction (probably still is) but the newer style hasn't yet been. Those are getting quite rare. I have one of those with Bosch livery decals but I haven't found decent Martini version yet (well I did but British post lost the package).

155, Calibra and Mercedes DTM cars were also available as 1:8 size body shells but the chassis for those wasn't within any standards and they fit only Tamiyas own (pretty bad) nitro engined chassis. I found 1:8 155 and Calibra bodies too but they are just laying around.

Tamiya also reproduced 1:10 BTTC 850 sedan few years ago but they didn't make estates (besides 1:24 model kit).

I have the bottom one in my garage and the full set as 1/18 scale die casts...
